The Honda NSX, a legendary automobile revered by enthusiasts and critics alike, stands as a testament to Honda's engineering prowess and commitment to innovation. Its journey from conception to production is a fascinating narrative that intertwines technological advancements, visionary leadership, and a relentless pursuit of perfection. The inception of the NSX traces back to the late 1980s, a time when Honda sought to challenge the status quo in the automotive world dominated by high-performance European manufacturers. With a vision to create a supercar that combined everyday usability with exhilarating performance, Honda embarked on an ambitious project codenamed "NS-X," which stood for "New," "Sportscar," "Unknown world," and "X-factor." At the helm of the NSX project was a remarkable team led by Chief Engineer Shigeru Uehara, who aimed to redefine the concept of a supercar. Unlike traditional exotics characterized by brute force and impracticality, the NSX aimed for a harmonious blend of performance, reliability, and comfort. Uehara's background in motorsports heavily influenced the development process, emphasizing principles such as lightweight construction, balanced handling, and aerodynamic efficiency. One of the NSX's most ground-breaking features was its innovative construction. Utilizing advanced materials such as aluminium and exotic alloys, Honda engineers succeeded in creating a lightweight yet rigid chassis, setting new benchmarks for structural integrity and handling precision. The mid-mounted 3.0-liter V6 engine, developed in collaboration with racing legend Ayrton Senna, delivered exhilarating performance while maintaining exceptional reliability and efficiency. In 1989, the world got its first glimpse of the Honda NSX at the Chicago Auto Show, where it captivated audiences with its futuristic design and ground-breaking technology. The NSX's sleek and aerodynamic bodywork, characterized by clean lines and functional vents, was a testament to Honda's commitment to both form and function. When the NSX entered production in 1990, it immediately garnered critical acclaim and established itself as a game-changer in the automotive landscape. Its exceptional driving dynamics, refined ergonomics, and everyday usability challenged conventional notions of what a supercar could be. Furthermore, its reliability and low maintenance costs shattered the stereotype of high-performance cars as temperamental and impractical.
Over the years, the NSX continued to evolve, receiving updates and enhancements that further refined its performance and technology. In 2002, Honda introduced the second-generation NSX, featuring a more powerful engine, advanced aerodynamics, and cutting-edge electronics. While the second-generation NSX retained the spirit of its predecessor, it embraced modern technologies such as hybrid powertrains and all-wheel drive, reflecting Honda's commitment to sustainability and innovation. Despite its evolutionary journey, the NSX remained true to its core philosophy of delivering exhilarating performance and exceptional driving dynamics. Its enduring legacy is a testament to Honda's unwavering dedication to pushing the boundaries of automotive engineering and challenging the status quo. In conclusion, the Honda NSX stands as a shining example of innovation, engineering excellence, and visionary leadership. From its inception as a daring experiment to its evolution into a technological marvel, the NSX has left an indelible mark on the automotive industry and continues to inspire enthusiasts and engineers around the world. As a pioneering supercar that defied conventions and redefined expectations, the NSX remains a timeless icon that embodies the relentless pursuit of automotive perfection. In the past 3 years, 51,433 children have disappeared from asylum centers in Europe. This is evident from research by the journalist collective Lost in Europe.
It is unknown where these minors have gone. This concerns children who have travelled to Europe unaccompanied and have reported to an asylum seeker center in a Member State. They were registered as missing there after their disappearance. This usually concerns children between the ages of 12 and 18, but very young children are also 'lost'. The number of more than 50,000 is more than double compared to the three years before. In the period from 2018 to 2020, 18,292 missing persons were registered. The researchers have seen a significant increase in children coming from Afghanistan in recent years, where the Taliban have returned to power since 2021. In addition, Austria now has more insight into the figures, and the numbers there are also significant. It also happens that migrants consciously go under the radar, because they would rather live illegally than have to return to their country of origin. They also regularly fall into the hands of human traffickers, It is possible that these missing children are also the victim of human trafficking. Human trafficking has many forms. These include exploitation in the sex, entertainment and hospitality industries, and as domestic workers or in forced marriages. Victims are forced to work in factories, on construction sites or in the agricultural sector without pay or with an inadequate salary, living in fear of violence and often in inhumane conditions. Some victims are tricked or coerced into having their organs removed. Children are forced to serve as soldiers or to commit crimes for the benefit of the criminals. EU TikTok ban ‘Not Excluded’4/30/2024 The EU has not ruled out banning Chinese-owned TikTok, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has stated.
The official, who is seeking another term in June, claimed that the video-hosting platform poses “a threat”, without elaborating. Last Wednesday, US President Joe Biden signed a law demanding that TikTok’s Chinese-based owner, ByteDance, sell the platform or be barred from app stores. Over the past few years, leaders in both the US and EU have made numerous claims regarding supposed security breaches and violations on the part of TikTok, which has staunchly denied the allegations. Asked during the Maastricht debate on Monday whether the EU would ban TikTok if the US goes ahead with the measure, von der Leyen said: “It is not excluded because the commission was the very first institution worldwide to ban Tik Tok on our corporate telephones.” “We know exactly the danger of Tik Tok,” she added, noting that the commission has “done a lot to regulate… to make sure that the platforms take responsibility for the content they provide.” In a statement last Monday, Internal Market Commissioner Thierry Breton said, “We suspect TikTok ‘Lite’ could be as toxic and addictive as cigarettes ‘light.’” The EU’s executive body opened a case against ByteDance over its TikTok Lite application. According to Brussels, the company had failed to submit a mandatory risk assessment report. ByteDance was given until May 3 to provide all the information requested, with a fine totaling 1% of the company’s annual income in case of noncompliance. In February, the commission initiated another probe with regard to the protection of minors, advertising transparency, “data access for researchers,” and “risk management of addictive design and harmful content.” Commenting on the US legislation last week, TikTok’s head of public policy for the Americas, Michael Beckerman, denounced the bill signed by Biden as a violation of the First Amendment to the Constitution, which guarantees the freedom of expression. TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew released a statement saying: “Make no mistake, this is a ban. A ban on TikTok, a ban on you, and a ban on your voice... Rest assured, we aren’t going anywhere. We are confident that we will keep fighting for your rights in the courts. The facts and the Constitution are on our side, and we expect to prevail.” The Blog Tags Widget will appear here on the published site.

Pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca has for the first time admitted that its Covid-19 vaccine could cause a rare side effect that could lead to blood clots and death, according to court documents.
The company is fighting a class action lawsuit alleging that its inoculation, which was developed in collaboration with the University of Oxford, can result in death and serious injury. The legal battle was initiated by Jamie Scott, a father of two, who suffered a blood clot that left him with brain damage after he was inoculated in April 2021 in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. He is seeking compensation over claims that the AstraZeneca vaccine is “defective” and less safe than expected, an allegation the company denies. In May 2023, AstraZeneca also insisted that “we do not accept that TTS [Thrombosis with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome] is caused by the vaccine at a generic level,” as quoted by The Daily Telegraph. TTS is a rare condition, in which a person has blood clots, which could reduce the blood flow, combined with a low platelet count, which could prompt difficulties in stopping the bleeding. TTS symptoms include severe headaches and abdominal pain. Despite previous denials, AstraZeneca said in court documents, which were submitted to the UK High Court in February but received media attention only recently, that “it is admitted that the AZ vaccine can, in very rare cases, cause TTS. The causal mechanism is not known.” “Further, TTS can also occur in the absence of the AZ vaccine (or any vaccine),” the company added, as quoted by the Telegraph. At the same time, AstraZeneca insists the available data shows the drug has “an acceptable safety profile,” and that “regulators around the world consistently state that the benefits of vaccination outweigh the risks of extremely rare potential side effects.” Dozens of Western countries suspended the use of AstraZeneca’s vaccine in the spring of 2021 over fears it may have caused some patients to develop blood clots. At the time, the head of the European Medicines Agency’s (EMA) vaccines strategy, Marco Cavaleri, said that there was an evident link between AZ vaccine intake and blood clots in the brain, but maintained that the benefits still outweighed the risks. According to World Health Organization data, the AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine has an efficacy of 72%. As of April 2021, over 17 million people had received the jab in the EU and the UK, with just under 40 cases of thrombosis, according to the company. Thirty years after his death at the San Marino Grand Prix, Ayrton Senna is still adored in Formula One, a sport his fatal accident reshaped. The 34-year-old Brazilian was leading at Imola on May 1, 1994, when he went off the track at the Tamburello curve and smashed into a concrete wall. It was the second death of the weekend. Since then, there has been only one driver, Frenchman Jules Bianchi in Japan in 2015, who has died in a Formula One crash. In the 2013 film 1: Life on the Limit, British journalist Maurice Hamilton observed that Senna’s death “was broadcast into the living rooms of millions of people who didn’t know much about motorsport but knew who he was and wanted to know who the culprit was”. Investigations into Senna’s death laid the blame for the crash on the steering column on his Williams. In the collision, the right front tyre tore off and flew into his head. A suspension arm also pierced his helmet. The day before, in qualifying, Austrian driver Roland Ratzenberger had died in a crash. Senna commandeered a course car to rush to the scene. Formula One’s doctor, Sid Watkins, wrote later in his book Life at the Limit that he told the distraught Senna: “Ayrton, why don’t you withdraw from racing tomorrow? “In fact, why don’t you give it up altogether? What else do you need to do? You have been world champion three times, you are obviously the quickest driver. Give it up and let’s go fishing.” Watkins wrote that Senna replied: “Sid, there are certain things over which we have no control. I cannot quit, I have to go on.” Senna had already hurried to a stricken driver the previous day when his young compatriot Rubens Barrichello crashed. Watkins prevented the driver choking on his own tongue. “Three big crashes,” Frederic Vasseur, now Ferrari team boss, said. “I think that shocked F1.
“I don’t know if it was a trigger, but I think it’s true that it’s often when there’s an accident that we change. After Jules, we made the halo, for example,” he said, alluding to the hoop above the cockpit that now protects drivers’ heads. While Formula One had already begun to pay more attention to safety, thanks to the initiative of drivers such as three-time world champion Jackie Stewart, Senna’s death prompted renewed efforts to improve cars, equipment and circuits. Senna’s fierce rival and sometime teammate Alain Prost remains inextricably linked to the Brazilian. The Frenchman had retired as a driver at the end of the previous season with a final world championship title and became a broadcaster. He said he got to know Senna in that period. “I keep the last six months in mind,” Prost told Motorsport.com in 2018. “That’s when I knew Ayrton much more than ever before. “I understood who he was and why he was acting sometimes.” When Senna crashed, Michael Schumacher, in his third season, was just a few metres behind. In 2000, when asked about his feelings after equalling Senna’s then record of 41 Grand Prix victories, the German broke down in tears. Lewis Hamilton also has emotional memories of the fateful day. He said that, aged nine, he was helping his father Anthony repair his kart at a British junior race meeting. “Someone told him that Ayrton had died,” Hamilton recalled at Imola in 2020. “And I remember I had to walk away from my dad because he would never let me cry in front of him so I had to go to a different place. It wasn’t easy. “I remember trying to channel that sadness into my driving and I think I won that weekend, but the following weeks were very tough.” The Blog Tags Widget will appear here on the published site.

American journalist Tucker Carlson has released a 20-minute interview with high-profile Russian philosopher and political commentator Aleksandr Dugin. The conversation was published on Carlson’s YouTube channel on Monday. Western media have described Dugin as “Putin’s brain” due to his supposed influence on President Vladimir Putin and the Russian elite. A fervent critic of the West and a foreign policy hawk, Dugin passionately supports Russia’s military operation in Ukraine and has stated that an independent Ukrainian state “should not exist.” In 2022, his daughter Darya was killed in a car bombing, which the Russian authorities said had been orchestrated by Ukrainian agents. Several US media outlets subsequently cited unnamed US intelligence officials as saying that Washington believes that the Ukrainian authorities were indeed involved in the assassination. Carlson introduced Dugin as “a writer who writes about big ideas,” claiming that his books have been “banned by the Biden administration” in the US. “You cannot buy them on Amazon,” he said. During the conversation with Carlson, Dugin argued that liberal ideology, which became de facto uncontested in the West since the fall of the Soviet Union, is leading to the demise of the concept of families. “Family is [being] destroyed in favor of this individualism,” he said, adding that the natural progression of liberalism will lead to “abandoned human identity.” “Next phase: new liberalism. Now it is not about the rule of a majority, but it is about the rule of minorities. It is not about individual freedom, but it is about woke-ism,” Dugin said. “It is not democracy. It is totalitarianism.” The Blog Tags Widget will appear here on the published site.

Shares in Tesla have surged following reports that CEO Elon Musk has agreed to partner with Chinese tech giant Baidu for mapping and navigation features to support autonomous driving technology in the world’s biggest auto market.
Shares rose nearly 14% in premarket US trading, while Baidu jumped by more than 5.5% in Hong Kong. Baidu, China’s main internet search company, has agreed to provide the US electric vehicle (EV) maker with access to its mapping license for data collection on China’s public roads, Reuters reported on Monday morning, citing people familiar with the matter. The sources highlighted that the agreement clears final regulatory obstacles for the rollout of Tesla’s Full Self Driving (FSD), the latest version of its Autopilot technology. On Sunday, the US billionaire visited China, where he held talks with Prime Minister Li Qiang. Media reports suggested that Musk was seeking approval for the FSD software rollout in China, as well as permission to transfer data overseas during the talks. Chinese officials have given tentative approval for the rollout of Tesla’s driver-assistance service in the country, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing sources. The company also managed to meet requirements for how it handles data security and privacy issues, people familiar with the matter told Bloomberg. Under Chinese law, automakers need to obtain a mapping qualification to start operating autonomous driving systems on public roads. Foreign enterprises must cooperate with local tech firms to get a license. The deal with Baidu is expected to allow the US company to legally operate the software in China, while its cars would be able to collect data about surroundings, including road layouts, traffic signs, and nearby buildings. Tesla rolled out its FSD four years ago, but the technology hasn’t been available in China due to regulatory hurdles. Earlier this month, in response to a query on X (formerly Twitter), Musk said the feature would appear in the country “very soon.” The approval for the technology in China is expected to significantly improve Tesla’s balance sheet. The company recently recorded its first year-on-year decline in quarterly revenue since 2020, showing a 9% drop for sales. Earlier this month, the automaker said it was cutting more than 10% of its global staff as part of a plan for “cost reductions and increasing productivity.” Musk’s surprise visit to China was “a watershed moment,” Wedbush Securities senior analyst Dan Ives told Bloomberg, adding that it could “open up FSD in China, unlocking what really could be the golden opportunity for them.” The Blog Tags Widget will appear here on the published site.

Iconic French actor Gerard Depardieu has been arrested in Paris over new allegations of sexual harassment brought against him by two former film set colleagues, BFMTV news outlet reported on Monday.
According to the report, the 75-year-old movie star was called to a Paris police station for questioning early on Monday and then taken into custody. In addition to previous claims, the actor faces accusations of sexual assault in two more instances – one in 2014, and the other in 2021. The first accuser, a 53-year-old film-set decorator, alleged that Depardieu touched her inappropriately during her work on the set of “The Green Shutters” by Jean Becker. After she complained to colleagues, she alleges that Depardieu repeatedly insulted her. The woman said she has been having anxiety attacks and suffering post-traumatic stress ever since. The second woman, who was an on-set assistant during the filming of “The Magician and the Siamese” by Jean-Pierre Mocky in 2014, and aged 24 at the time of the alleged assault, claimed that Depardieu repeatedly approached her with explicit sexual proposals and “sexually” touched her. Depardieu has reportedly denied all allegations against him. The actor has faced more than a dozen other accusations in recent years from women who said he either harassed, groped, or sexually assaulted them. The first complaint came from actress Charlotte Arnould, who claimed in 2018 that she had twice been raped at the actor’s mansion in Paris. Following her allegations, Depardieu was handed preliminary rape and sexual assault charges in 2020, and placed under judicial supervision, avoiding jail. Another accusation came from actress Helene Darras, but was dismissed by prosecutors in Paris in January, who said it had passed the statute of limitations. Depardieu has repeatedly denied any improper behavior. In an open letter in Le Figaro published in October last year, the actor said he has “never, ever abused a woman,” as “hurting a woman would be like kicking my own mother in the stomach.” Amid the flood of allegations against Depardieu, over 50 French actors, writers, producers, and musicians in December last year signed an open letter calling for an end to the actor’s “public lynching” and saying that public condemnation violated the principle of ‘innocent until proven guilty’. The signatories included actors Pierre Richard, Vincent Perez, Carole Bouquet, and singer Carla Bruni. French President Emmanuel Macron at the time also lent his support to Depardieu, stating he would not back the “manhunt” against him. The Blog Tags Widget will appear here on the published site.

Türkiye has expressed its support for outgoing Prime Minister Rutte as NATO chief. Sources within NATO report this.
Rutte was in Istanbul last week for a meeting with Turkish President Erdogan. Türkiye was one of the last four NATO countries that have not yet expressed support for Rutte. Türkiye's commitment is an important step in Rutte's ambition to become NATO Secretary General. Now only Hungary, Slovakia and Romania need to be convinced. Rutte needs that support, because to be appointed secretary general requires unanimous support from all 32 NATO member states. Visit Erdogan Last Friday, the outgoing Prime Minister travelled to Istanbul in a personal capacity. He bought himself a plane ticket for an injured scheduled flight. That same day he had a "very positive conversation" with Erdogan. The appointment of the new Secretary General was actually expected on April 4, the day NATO celebrated its 75th anniversary. Now that the unanimous support of the 32 countries is not so obvious, the decision is expected to be made no later than the summit in Washington, from 9 to 11 July. US voters warming up to Trump4/29/2024 The former president has widened his lead over incumbent Joe Biden, and is viewed more favourably than when he left office. Americans appear to be looking more positively at former US President Donald Trump as this year’s election draws closer, increasingly favouring him over incumbent Joe Biden and viewing his term in office as a success, a new CNN poll has shown. The poll released on Sunday found that US voters favour Trump by a 49%-43% margin in a hypothetical one-on-one matchup with Biden. That compares with the Republican’s 49%-45% over the incumbent Democrat in January. Trump has a wider lead when the full field of contenders is included, as will be the case when voters go to the polls in November, the survey showed. He has a 42%-33% margin over Biden, followed by 15% for independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. The remaining 10% support third-party candidates or are undecided. Two-thirds of US voters do not understand how anyone could support Biden, while 52% say there is no chance they would vote for the incumbent under any circumstance. By comparison, 63% of respondents cannot see how anyone could support Trump, and 47% say there is no chance they would vote for him. Only 47% of voters are satisfied with the candidates they have to choose from, including 44% of Democrats and 63% of Republicans, CNN said. Biden is viewed negatively by 58% of voters, while 53% have a negative opinion of Trump. Only 65% of respondents believe Biden legitimately won the 2020 presidential election, unchanged from when the same question was asked after the January 2021 US Capitol riot. Opinions of Trump’s term as president have improved since he left office. Looking back on his performance, 55% of Americans believe Trump’s presidency was a “success,” up from 45% when voters were polled after the riot. By comparison, 39% of respondents believe Biden’s term has been a success, the survey showed. Similarly, six in ten Americans disapprove of Biden’s performance as president. He gets low marks for his handling of several issues of top concern for voters, including 66% disapproval on the economy, 71% disapproval on inflation and 71% disapproval on the Israel-Hamas war. Only about four in ten Americans believe the US “has a responsibility” to be involved in Middle East conflicts.
Trump has accused Biden and the incumbent’s allies of trying to derail his candidacy through the court system. The ex-president faces 91 criminal charges in four separate indictments. A CNN poll released on Thursday showed that just 13% of Americans believe Trump is being treated the same as other criminal defendants. Only 44% are confident that the jury chosen in the first Trump case that has gone to trial – now underway in New York City – will deliver a fair verdict.
