FASHION Revolution Week is an annual campaign bringing together the world's largest fashion activism movement.
Fashion Revolution Week 2024 will mark ten years of Fashion Revolution, with ten days of action, bringing together communities around the world through a series of engaging local events in 75 countries. This year, the campaign will run until April 24th. The theme for Fashion Revolution Week 2024 is "How to be a Fashion Revolutionary". This year's theme invites the global community to share a decade of learning on what it means to be part of the revolution, including their achievements, advice and hopes for the future. "This year's theme invites us to step into our potential to be a force for change, for us to collectively bring forth a sustainable and ethical fashion industry that is healthier for our planet, the people who make our clothes and our own relationship with fashion," says Fashion Revolution Malaysia country coordinator Melissa Tan. In Malaysia, Fashion Revolution Week will be hosted in conjunction with Green Day Out at Gaya HQ, for a day of action on April 20. Activities include "Mend In Public Day". The idea is to stitch in protest against disposable fashion. Amidst the activities, participants will repair their slightly worn but still loved pieces, from torn pockets to split seams, sparking conversations on how to make loved clothes last. Clothes swaps, community circles and workshops, crafted around the intention of building a culture of slow and circular fashion will also be held. Malaysia denies training Hamas7/31/2014 Malaysia denied Thursday that it is providing training for Hamas fighters in Gaza.
Deputy Home Affairs Minister Wan Junaidi Jaafar said the government has never allowed the country to be used as a training ground for Hamas fighters, even if Malaysia supports the Palestinians. "It does not matter what kind of freedom-fighting group they belong to, even those against Israel, we have never given permission to have such trainings here," he told the Astro Awani television station. "The report is incorrect." The Jerusalem Post reported Wednesday that members of a Hamas cell trained in Malaysia to carry out cross-border attacks against Israel using powered parachutes. The newspaper said that a Hamas commander captured in the ongoing fighting told the Israeli security agency Shin Bet that he and nine other Hamas members travelled to Malaysia in 2012, where he learned how to fly a powered parachute. Malaysian leaders both from the opposition and the government have criticized the Israeli government for its attacks on Palestinians in Gaza that have killed hundreds of people.
